Our Paris Post-Covid Adventure, Part 2: Getting There
We love to travel, and that goes for everyone in our family. So, it was important to Stephanie and me to do everything we could to make this trip as enjoyable as we could for our family. Especially our moms who, being the "Grand Ladies" of our adventure, our goal was to spoil them immensely.
Prior to leaving, we followed our own Travel Tip and jockeyed for optimum seating all the way up to check-in time. The result paid off, as we were able to get everyone window and aisle seats with empty middle seats on all but 1 of the 4 flights (the odd one out being DFW-ORD, which was at capacity). Combined with my AA Platinum status, which afforded us Premium Economy seating, it made for a very comfortable flying experience!
And while we're talking about airline status, I've been fortunate that, even without much (any!) business travel this past year, we've been able to keep our Platinum status with American Airlines. So, since we book all our tickets together, everyone got 2 checked bags for free. Lastly, we took advantage of the AA's offer for wheelchair assistance for the Grand Ladies. Once we checked in at ORD for the first leg of our flights, they were able to traverse each airport and customs while seated. An added perk is that our entire group got the VIP treatment - separate, quicker lines through security and customs! If you have someone in your travel party that is senior or may have difficulty walking long distances, standing in lines, definitely select this option (it's free!) when booking your tickets.
Also, as is customary for us, we bought snacks and pulled out our trusty snack containers for everyone to put together their own snack bags for the flights. No matter your age, there's something about making a goodie bag for a trip that elicits a smile! Because of the length of our flight legs from DFW to CDG, we knew that there would be at least 1 full meal and a snack, but it doesn't hurt to bring things you would enjoy for those in-between times.
In our next post, we'll share what we had to do to acknowledge Covid-19 in our preparation before our trip.
This is the 2nd of a multi-part blog, as there are many details to share. And, we’re working on a vlog, but that will likely be late July August. Please SUBSCRIBE to our Channel and click the BELL to be notified.
